Horrible people

Do not use these crooks! They are dishonest, quoting a low quote and then shaking you down for more money half way through.

Long-distance move from New York, NY to Los Angeles, CA

Happy with them.

My move from New York to California was seamless thanks to Xpress Before chosing them, I got multiple quotes from various moving firms. Most of them were brokers, which I did not like because we would have no ideas who actually would have temporary possession of our belongings..
Xpress field rep, Tomas, followed up with me and visited my apt to give me a realistic and adjusted quote. After revising the inventory list, I signed the contract. Two days before the moving day, the office called me to confirm the date & time. On the moving day, the crew was on time, organized, professional and efficient.
Two weeks passed and on the west coast, our belongings arrived in a 16 wheeler truck safe and sound. We are very satisfied with them and definitely will use them for our next move (if they are available in California) we only hope the next move is a long time from now because moving is exhausting!

Extremely Negative Experience.

Don't expect your items to be dispatched in a timely manner or delivered within your expected time frame.

My items showed up over six weeks after I had them loaded onto their truck!

Also don't expect a modicum of customer service once you pay their pick up fee. Office people became horribly uncommunicative, rude and unapologetic about the ridiculously long delivery wait time.

I have HUGE regrets about using this company.

Long-distance move from New York to South Carolina

Stay away from this company.

I hired this company to relocated my furniture from NY to SC, spoke to Winston of course he was extremely nice, I told him about all my items, explained I don't like surprises at the last minute to please make sure to have the right cubits feet, he said sure nop problem, gave me an estimate for $2800. I scheduled pick up the following day, I never got an email confirmation and I know that was my mistake, three guys came, they wrapped everything nicely BUT at the end my $2800 estimated became $4500 AND THEY WANTED TO IMPOSED A 20% TIP, I got on the phone with Winston and this time he wasn't the pleasant person I spoked to the day before, the driver was so rude that even told me he wasn't going to pay for my move, to make things short it took them all day to packed, my kids, dogs and grow ups were tired, I ended up paying $4500 and they can kiss my rear for their tip, they shipped my items on a later day not the promised one, I got my furniture 15 days later, they broke my Raymond & Flanigan living room leather sofa, two bins lost with my kitchen pots and pans, the guys that deliver to SC were extremely nice and respectful and I like to be fair so YES I DID TIP THEM,
I couldn't report them to BBB because they're not even on it
PEOPLE STAY AWAY FROM THIS CRAPPY COMPANY.

Thank you very much for wonderful review.Negative review more useful than positive because no one can fake them, and they sticking on the front page on Yelp not like 5 stars which is going to the NOT RECOMMENDED section.
As our client you always right!!As the company we are always the bad guys and our side of the story never important.
But every story has 3 side YOURS OURS and THE TRUTH .
First thing to be correct you paid $4000 even NOT $4500
The original estimate what we emailed to you were $3432 to be exact./but you did not get our email our fault/
The emails went out from 11/7/16 till 11/30/16 12 of them /none of them got to you our fault/
Tip never mandatory if you wish to be nice with them you tip them if not than not /our fault the service industry its all about tipping/
Original inventory you gave us 61 items we ended up to pick up from you 121 /our mistake we forget what you have in your home so we did not put on the original list/
Delivery you filled out the form you ready as of 12/9/16 delivery happened 12/13/16 so its not 15 days/our fault its only 4 days from your first available date/
Yes we are on BBB /its our fault shame on us you did not find us on they site/

Avoid at All Cost!!

AVOID AT ALL COST!!

Bottom line:

- Management is extremely unprofessional, unresponsive and rude.

- Cost goes up from quote magically.

- Movers are careless and actively hide any damage they cause to your furniture, to avoid receiving less tip.

- Claims department makes you feel you are being scammed.

- Below is a detailed description of our experience, to persuade everyone NOT to go with this company. The city is full of good companies, just ask around and do a better homework than we did.

We unfortunately hired this company without looking at the poor reviews available online.

As also indicated by other reviewer, they were extremely active when it was time to get hired. However, as soon as the issues began, they vanished off the face of the earth. No response to emails or calls.

After a detailed assessment of the size of my apartment, and the furniture and other things in it, I received a quote from an individual named Sam. I specifically asked him to confirm if the quote included each and every cost we would incur, with no possibility of it going up. Sam confirmed without hesitation.

On the day of the move, three movers showed up. The moment they walked in, they began throwing around reasons why this move would go up in cost, etc…

The movers were extremely careless, they threw things like they were rocks. At some point I decided to tell them to stay away of certain things, which I preferred moving myself.

In the new apartment, we noticed damage on one of the closets. We asked the movers and they responded that it was due to the poor quality of the furniture (yes, seriously). Note that we had already moved the same furniture to three different apartments in the past, with zero issues (different company, obviously).

As the move continued, my wife noticed that one of the closets was not being delivered. After the damage to the other closet mentioned above, she became concerned that the delay could be because they had also damaged this one (this one had mirror doors, so it was more delicate).

So, she asked specifically whether the delay was because they had also damaged the closet. The movers responded “NO, everything is fine”.

Once EVERYTHING else had been delivered, and after (again) confirming everything was fine, the movers demanded payment, and collected their tip.

Immediately after, the missing closet appears and the mirror was broken (surprise surprise?).

The wrongdoing was so evident, that the movers signed a document stating “Closets were damaged! The foreman and the XPress Moving Vanlines Claim Department will take the claims!”.

I called Sam, but he was obviously not available, so I got to talk to Anthony (lucky me). I reported the situation, and asked to be reimbursed on the tip. I obviously did not want to give a generous prize to these shady / bad faith individuals. Instead of apologizing, Anthony took an extremely rude and aggressive tone, said that my request was ridiculous, and refused to return the tip or offer any solution.

The following day, some unidentified representative for the company (email was simply signed as “Manager”) offered apologies for the inconveniences, and referred us to their claim manager, Robert.

For our peace of mind, my wife and I decided to simply follow the claim process and avoid unnecessary interactions with management. That’s when we got frozen in time…

Robert asked for certain paperwork, which we returned promptly. We followed up with weekly emails asking for status. Each delayed response from Robert (approximately one week after our follow ups), promised prompt review of the documents, and a solution. After two months with no progress, we again emailed Robert. After another week, he provided some made up excuse, and said he needed the paperwork to move forward (same paperwork we had provided 2 months ago).

Today, I decided to call Sam again. No response. Instead, I got a call from Anthony (the rude and aggressive guy who refused to reimburse the wrongly-obtained tip). In a condescending tone, he indicated that companies have departments, and that neither him nor Sam (the guy I contracted with initially), would intervene.

After being interrupted multiple times, I attempted to convey that I had asked for their intervention, as managers and contracting parties, not because we did not want to follow policies and procedures, but because Robert was completely unprofessional and negligent, and after the terrible experience we had with the move, we were now in this terrible position in which they had put us in. He continued his aggressiveness, and basically told me that I did not understand how companies work, and that I would get nowhere.

I may not understand how THIS so-called company works, but I certainly understand honoring commitments, good faith in dealing, treating customers with respect, and taking care of them if any issues arise. Xpress Moving Vanlines will do none of those things, and you will regret hiring them.

Long-distance move from New York to Connecticut

Great Move after Rocky Start.

I would rate this move as excellent but for the miscommunication over what the movers thought they were moving and what the office told them.  If you're thinking of using this company, make sure to be as specific as possible about every item, large or small.  However, after we got everything sorted out between the office and the movers, I could not have been happier.  Amil was the foreman and his other two crew members were outstanding.  These guys were just great. They took such great care of all the items, wrappping them and protecting them.  I had several very heavy pieces that they navigated down narrow stairs with expert judgement and care.  Not a scratch anywhere.  I would recomend this company to anyone - just be sure your estimate covers everything you're moving.    .

Long-distance move from New York to California

Unbelievable experience.

My name is Connor.
My overall experience with X-Press Moving is amazing from the very start. I moved from Brooklyn,N.Y. to California, and I just received my shipment 2 day ago. Everything arrived in great condition and the delivery crew assembled everything for me and placed all the items according to my instructions. Very important that there was no surprise, hidden costs upun arrival. The pick-up crew was really amazing. The foreman,Steve ,really made our move a great experience. They showed up 5 minutes before time,Steve introduced themselves and explained everything to us in great details. That guy is a real source of knowledge, experienced and professional.he made sure we were fully aware of our quote before we actually committed to the move.Very fast ,professional crew. Our cost went up 700USD compared to the original estimate, but we added stuff to the original list and needed some packing, too. My final bill was 4731$,which compared to the other quotes I was given was still very good. From the pickup to delivery all it took was 9 day as they promised previously. The company kept me up to date by calling me severeal times regarding the delivery time. The dispatcher,Mike ,was also very helpful. All in all I would recommend this moving company.

Very good experience.

Let me start from the beginning. Frank, the salesman was fantastic and very helpful. He made me understand everything about the move and he gave me an estimate in e-mail from the cost of my big local move. The estimate was $4458. I tried to pack everything but we talking about a lot of stuff so I asked the movers on the move day to finish my packing. What is cost me a little extra but for that job what these guys did for me. It was worth it. The foreman's name was Steve and he was superb. He explained for me the contract before they started the job so detailed and so proffesionaly. His crew was moving fast and no damages. Very good guys and top of this funny. The move was a lot of fun and no headake. By the end of the move I was glad to say thanks for Steve and his crew for the hard laber. I'm suggesting everybody to use X-Press Moving Vanlines. I paid 4800 in the end and they just made me happy with the service.

Bad moving company.

Well lets just say fred at sale will give you a quote and whatever that price is you times that times 5 and that is what you will pay. the movers alex picked a small dresser up and dropped a drawer out of it and it hit the floor, alex picked up the drawer and put it back in the dresser as I was watching him and he didn't say anything. I told him you know that was broken by the fall and he stated no. I will say when we got our stuff we were missing boxes and a lot of things damaged and broke , they say you pay for insurance well that is a joke I started a law suit. please avoid at all cost.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Louisiana

Terrible, terrible, terrible.

This company actually committed a number of complaint worthy things. First off, over the phone, they told my aunt that the cost of moving my belongings from New Jersey to Louisiana would be a little over $1,000, but on the day of the move, the men who took the belongings charged her over $2,000, half of which she was expected to pay on the spot, even though the items were already loaded on the truck. They also tried to intimidate and threaten her since she was the only person at the time of delivery. In addition, while moving the items, they left a hole in her apartment wall and have refused to pay for it, even after my aunt reported it to their manager and even faxed an invoice of the bill for repairs to the company. Then, when they got to Louisiana, they called me a day before delivering the items, even though they were supposed to give me a three day notice. The movers were not very professional and left without setting up all the items they had previously dissembled, even though they were supposed to do that. Also, it has taken me some time to get fully unpacked and I realized that there are two boxes worth of items missing, including expensive comforter sets and a professional iron. The reason I just figured it out is because they purposefully made the inventory sheet very confusing and on the day of delivery they hurriedly unloaded the items and left just as quickly as they arrived. I have tried to call to make a complaint, but nobody in the office cared to handle the situation.

Xpress moving.

The movers were extremely careful and professional. They handled everything so carefully and made an extremely stressful situation quite manageable. They were on time and the estimates they gave were accurate. If there were any miscellaneous items (in terms of cost) they were very quick to give me a head's up early on. I would recommend them to anyone who needs to move.

Was quoted twice as much.

My orginal quote for the was for $3, 000. They showed up with a small truckto load everything. When my things were delivered they were broken up even though they were wrapped and packed. The boxed had stuff spilled all over it. Glasses that were part of my dining room set was broken into pieces. They stole tools from my tool box that was packed already. Broke drinking glasses and kicked a hole in my entertainment unit.

Caution !!

CAUTION!! DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY!! TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! UNPROFESSIONAL!! LATE!! UNRELIABLE!! POSSIBLY CRIMINAL!!   I don't usually write reviews, but I feel I should share my experience so you don't make the same mistake.   So it's been 16 days since they picked up my belongings (18 hour drive move).  So far I have no idea where my stuff is or when they are going to deliver.  I'm sleeping on an air mattress, and my home is completely empty other than what I brought in a suitcase, and the things I've had to purchase to replace what may or may not be on the way.   The communication has been terrible. It's completely unprofessional on every level. When I call, I get the run around.  When I call the main office, first I get "you have to speak with the dispatcher, and he stepped out of the office, call back later." I waited all day to speak with him, he then said "you have to call the driver".  When I call the driver, no one answers, the voicemail greeting just says a name in a heavy accent then cuts to the beep.  I've left 6 messages over 2 days without a return call.   As far as the estimate,   I told Fred exactly what I had, down to the small chair and the exact number of boxes.  After pickup and loading, his estimate was off by about 40%.  When they got there, I got a kind suggestion to tip at least 15%.  which puts the actual amount about 60% more than the detailed estimate.  I don't know how this company has any positive reviews and I'm questioning whether any of these are real, and if this company is even legitimate.  At this point, I have no indication that my things have not been stolen and sold to pawn shops.   I'm completely dissatisfied with this move and this company.  It's turned out to be disaster, I can't get on with moving in, unpacking, or even sitting down at my own home.  They offer no apology, no sympathy, no recourse, just "call back later", or "call this other person".  They've taken so long, that I don't have days off anymore to unpack and I'll have to do it before or/after work.  I've had visitors, and in my home I don't even have a couch/chair/television/bed/sheets/extra bath towel.  It's embarrassing.     In summary, I've paid a huge amount of money, I don't know where my stuff is or when it's coming, and I get the run around when I call.  I have no leverage or negotiating power at this point.  Please don't make the same mistake as I did by using this company. .

Long-distance move from New York to Texas

Expectations Exceeded.

I used Xpress Moving Vanlines Corp (DOT 1853764) to move my belongings from NY to Texas.  I inevitably chose this van line company because of the high ratings on Protectyourmove.org and their high customer service standards.  When I told the company that I was going to use an alternate van line company (a personal connection), Frank was insistent on putting in a bid for my move.  I asked that the company give me a flat rate rather than a price based on cubic footage.  Frank personally came to my apartment with the owner to give me a quote.  Once my goods were picked up (on time), the entire move was seamless.  I received my goods a few days earlier than anticipated and there were no upcharges at the time of delivery. I highly recommend Xpress Moving Vanlines Corp for your next move.  .

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Connecticut

Avoid Xpress for multiple reasons.

Avoid Xpress. The telephone salesman was at multiple points either deliberately omitting certain costs, and at one point just plain lied. The loaders were friendly enough, but one of their acts was so unprofessional to be worth mentioning. I will also explain a problem with their general policy.
Problems with the telephone salesman (Josh):
He quoted me a price for my move from Princeton to New Haven, based on a "travelling-time estimate" of 3 hours. An important point he failed to mention is that this "travelling-time estimate" was for a one-way trip, and you had to pay more ($115 per hour) for both legs of the journey. In the end, I was billed for 5.5 hours of travelling.
After giving me an initial quote of $690, in his words, "the only other cost that hasn't been included" is the price of road and bridge tolls, which he claimed was "about $100". The actual toll price turned out to be $207. Other costs not mentioned on the phone, but you will have to deal with:1) They make you sign a document stating that you will pay for any parking tickets they incur.2) Tip for the movers, generally expected to be 15-20%.
There was a misunderstanding where the salesman thought he conveyed that the movers would arrive at 9am, but I thought he meant that they would start driving off their base at 9am , and would arrive at my place at 10am plus. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, this could have been an honest misunderstanding, since I do not recall the exact words that were exchanged.  However, the moving company had a zero tolerance for misunderstandings, and were completely unsympathetic. At one point, the salesman was shouting into the phone "are you saying it's my fault?" They offered an ultimatum: either we take your deposit and cancel the move, or we'll charge you $115 per hour till you finish packing.
Problem with the loaders:
These were friendly loaders (led by foreman Alex), however one of their acts was so unprofessional that it soured my impression of them. They agreed to move two of my lamps, and indeed they carried them into the truck. What they failed to tell me is that they unscrewed three of my lamp bulbs and tossed them into my car, without my permission. I only found out about the bulbs after the move.
Problem with general policy:
They have a policy to charge $250 if you make an "additional stop". I was particularly incredulous because I had stuff to unload from both home and office, which were separated by 5 minutes of driving. Such details were irrelevant to the moving company, and it was a painful policy to learn on the actual day of the move.

Long-distance move from New York to Georgia

Very poor experience.

I highly recommend NOT going with this company. Read up on moving scams before using any mover. We chose them to move from Brooklyn to Atlanta because they had the lowest estimate. It turned out that they had the lowest estimate because they weren't going to honor it - and charged us double. The worst part was how nerve racking they made the experience. They promised delivery in about a week, verbally. When it didn't show up in a week, I called, and they said it would be another day or two. Every time I call they give me the run around and then eventually say it will be a day or two. Repeat this process for another two weeks, not knowing where all of my belongings were or whether I would see them again. When everything arrived, it was in fairly good condition. My golf clubs were missing and some small parts of a bookshelf which made the shelf useless. At that point, I was just glad to have most of my stuff.

Worst movers ever!!

Do not use this company!! They broke everything !! Nothing was wrapped correctly, everything arrived broken !! I expressed to them before the move that I had very expensive fragile items! I was assured for the extreme amount of money I paid for the few items that were moved, this would be done!
Upon arriving, and paying full in cash, everything was broken!! They did not offer to replace or fix any item, I had to put in a claim form that took a year to be offerred pennies!! When asked for a refund for an inadequate move they refused !! This is the worst moving company ever!!

Long-distance move from New York, NY to Los Angeles, CA

Excellent experience!

Was very worried after hearing about moving company horror stories - items getting stolen, broken, hidden fees, etc.We happy to say it was the apposite side on my move.
Three people showed up in New York, we lived on the fourth floor with no elevator, that wasn't a problem for these guys. Straight up pros, great works who never complained once, they worked like machines. They got the job done in a few short hours and were on their way. Same story with the movers that showed up in California.
All our items arrived safely in CA in a little over a week with no damage, not a single broken dish. The guys who delivered our belongings were also friendly and handled our belongings carefully while working at a good pace.

Tip: when you deal with the office, try to talk to the same person each time. If you don't, the new customer service rep will have to read through your account notes to figure out what's going on with your move.
I read good and bad reviews about Xpress ,I unhesitatingly would recommend them to all my friends.

Couldn't even provide a correct quote.

I was out of the country when my previous mover cancelled. I contacted XPress Vanlines to see if they would be able to do this and explained I only had email access. I sent Fred the information, in writing, several times and they continually got the information for the move incorrect (they were going to send my things to CA instead of NJ, they kept writing different towns than what I had given them in writing, they kept asking for the same information over and over again, and then said it was a surprise when I reminded them there was a 3rd stop even though it was clearly in the initial email). I am glad I was not able to speak to them on the phone because I can't imagine how much worse it would have been without the paper trail. I am glad I avoided using this company since everything they had done leads me to believe the move would not have gone smoothly and now that I have seen other reviews regarding pressure tactics with asking for more money and the unreliability I definitely feel better about my decision not to go with them. Moving is stressful enough without dealing with movers who can't be bothered with the details.

Excellent job from estimating, packing to delivery.
The estimate was based on volume (not weight) and was right on the money when it came truck loading. Pick-up date 6/20/2019 and delivery date 6/30/2019.
The household items were packed by the owner and the furniture/bulky items by the movers and NO missing or broken items.

Long-distance move from Brooklyn, NY to West Hollywood, CA

Awful awful horrible company.

I hired this company to move me from NY to California. Spoke with Anthony as I can see many others have and have nothing nice to say about him or my move. He gave me a price of 1900$. The movers came to pick up my stuff they barely spoke English so the language barrier was awful. They ended up changing my moving price to 2800$ I had no choice but use them because I Had to return my keys the next day. This was a total scam clearly this is how they get people they know they have to move so they get stuck with no choice but to settle for that price. I always felt very taken advantage of by my the main man who was handling everything I feel like because I was a female he got over on me.

A week later passes I arrive to California I get a call about my things arriving. It was during the protests and riots. Me and my boyfriend had to guide the driver how to get to my block finally they get to my building. As soon as I am speaking to the driver I realize he smells of alcohol heavily. Clearly they’ve been drinking and driving. They start to unload my things to bring them upstairs. As they’re unloading my dresser they drop it on the ground off the truck. I was furious and was eager to see the damage. What happened next wasn’t what I expected. Besides the fact that I already knew my dresser was already ruined I started to unwrap my things as they were bringing them up. Mind you I also helped them bring most of the things up because they were super slow. Anyways I start to un pack the furniture and begin to notice all the damage caused to all my belongings. My dresser was obviously ruined scuffs, scratches, dents and hole all over. My white bar table completely ruined. My coffee table has a feel gashes in it. My garbage can for my kitchen was complexity dented in. And on top of everything the scratched my walls bringing in the furniture. I addressed all the damage and the blamed it on the people who put my things on the truck in NY since they were just the transporters. The next day I call Anthony to address all the damages. He basically told me it wasn’t his problem and that he’d put me in contact with the claims department they would help refund me for the damage. Long story short I been in contact with Robert from claims who made me do all this paper work. It took him 3 weeks to get back to me with an offer. He offered me $192 for over $2000 worth of damage. I took this as an insult. Now he is ignoring me. I also had my attorney contact him and he’s also been ignoring her and she sees that he’s read her messages to him,

This company is a total scam and I plan to sue them to get my money bask for the damage. At this point it’s not even about the money it’s about how disrespectful they are and how they’ve been dodging me for 2 months.

Long-distance move from New York, NY to San Diego, CA

Not professional

Still waiting for my stuff after more than two weeks from pick up for a long distance moving. Not really bothered about the wait as it is long distance, but really bothered about the lack of professionalism and customer support as they don't provide ETA or seem to have any idea of where the shipment is.

I will update this review once my order is delivered, if delivered correctly.
